5 Things You Can Do To 3X Your Results

Five Secrets that can tremendously increase your efficiency and 3X your results.

Read on…

Times have been a bit crazy off late. There is no clear demarcation between work and home. These distractions can be extremely frustrating.  Amidst all this chaos, you hear people saying that this is the best time to upskill or may be start journaling. Of course you save those couple of hours which you otherwise spend inhaling fumes in the traffic. You need to make it count. So, you decide to start blogging. After a lot of thought you write a title for your blog and your kid steps in pulling you to play hide & seek. You play with you kid for a while and then slowly slip into your chair and start writing a couple of lines. You are getting into the zone. Words start flowing from your pen & then your spouse calls you to help him/her in the kitchen. Frustrated you charge out of the room and your bad mood rubs on your spouse and the rest is as they say, home sweet home.

Does this sound familiar?

There has been a huge shift in our lives and all of us have been shaken out of our dreams and are dragged out of our comfort zones. We now have two choices –

  1. Get frustrated, allow ourselves to get sucked into the negative and give in. Just get by this crazy time alive by doing minimums at work and home

 OR

2. Accept this as the ‘new normal’, redefine your strategy and meet this adversity head on and make this year a huge turning point in your life. Remember, a smooth sea never made a skillful sailor

Personally, last 4 months have been a roller coaster. Along with everything going on in my life, I have been able to learn 3 new skills, launch my blogging site & get a training platform ready where I can provide training and add real value to people.

  1. Set Daily and Monthly Goals

It may sound like a cliché but your mind is like a cruise missile. Feed a destination and set it free, it will find its way to the destination. Set realistic goals and let a thread running (keep thinking about your goals). Your mind will help you identify time slots where you can get the work done.

2. Don’t worry about results

Once you set your goals, come up with a set of daily actions that you feel will help you reach the goal. Then forget about goal. Just execute the daily actions to the best of your ability. Do not worry about the results on a daily basis. There would be many days where you won’t meet your daily goals. A few good days can make up for so many bad days. We often overestimate what we can accomplish in a day and underestimate what we can accomplish in a month or a year if we work towards our goal every single day. Have you noticed that a month goes by slowly if you diligently work on your goals everyday but it whizzes past if you while away doing nothing.

Summary: Have a happy heart and keep taking action everyday.

3. Allow and accept Distractions

Once you make allowances for distractions (either from self or from family) you will not feel upset. If you don’t get upset, it won’t drain out your energy. Always remember – you have a limited amount of time, energy & will power everyday. If you waste it on things that you can’t control, you can’t use them on things you can.

Just to give an example – it took me 4 sittings to write the first draft of this article and another 3 sittings to edit it and publish. This happened over two days!

4. Find micro time slots

This is one change that has helped me adapt to the new way of working and be extremely efficient. I learnt to find multiple micro time slots (15-20 minutes) and focus intensely. As I mentioned above, if you have a constant thread running in the background it becomes very easy to get into context and start from where you left.

5. Fold time

This is the most important of all which people fail to understand. You don’t have so much time to make all the mistakes and learn from them. You need to learn from others’ mistakes. The only way to do that is to attend trainings. I have attended 3 trainings with a total duration of 15 weeks. Some of them were free and others were paid. I probably would have spent as much as two family dinners and it was totally worth it. Had I not attended the training to learn from an expert, it would have taken me 12 months to figure it out all by myself. 8 months is a massive folding of time and it is a great return of investment.

And now for some serious confessions –

  1. I have not watched TV or read a newspaper for more than 15 minutes in a day. I do spend 30 to 40 minutes in a day on YouTube or some of the OTT platforms in watching content that I like. This has saved me a lot of energy and has kept me in a positive mindset.
  2. I have chosen only those goals that give me a lot of energy. I love writing, learning new skills and training others. It is very important to choose those goals that you love doing.

They have tremendously increasing my productivity. Hope they help you as well. Leave your comments below on how they helped or did not help.
